Welcome to The Simple Healthy Life!

I haven’t always known the true meaning of being healthy. It wasn’t until my adult years that I really began to learn what it meant to be healthy. Growing up, I was only concerned about how my clothes fit and how I looked in a bikini – my concerns only led to a string of yo-yo dieting. It is safe to say that I have battled my weight my entire life. I have finally learned that being skinny isn’t all it takes to be healthy. It’s really about balancing life as a whole and defining your own healthy. A night in the kitchen cooking dinner for my family helps me relieve stress and provides us with healthier food than we’d get at a restaurant – that’s my healthy.

My passion truly revolves around seeing people gain control of their health and enjoy every ounce of life. It really is easy and I hope this blog shows you how!

I’m also passionate about a few other things….

  • My husband and my baby girl. He steal gives me butterflies and she brings unspeakable joy to our lives.
  • Ethnic food. I love all food, but especially ethnic food!
  • Thrift stores, coupons, and Target. Who doesn’t love a good bargain?
  • Traveling.

The boring stuff….

I was born and raised in the mountains of east Tennessee and my heart still resides there. I’ve been lucky enough to live in such places as Nashville, TN, Lexington, KY and now Charlotte, NC. I love living in the South and all things Southern!

I’ve always had an interest and passion for health and wellness, mainly because I have seen so many of my family members suffer from diseases and illnesses that could be prevented. Early on in my college career I decided to turn my passion into my education. In 2008, I received a B.S. in physical education with concentrations in exercise science and sports management with a minor in health education. In 2010, I earned a M.S. in health promotion. I’ve been fortunate enough to work in several positions within the health and wellness field that have allowed me to put my passion in action. There’s a lot of joy that comes with seeing people get their life back!
